1 Samuel – God Chooses a King Israel wanted a king like other nations. God called Samuel, a young boy, to be His prophet. Saul became Israel’s first king, but he disobeyed God. God chose David, a shepherd boy who defeated Goliath. David learned to trust God even during hard times. Big lesson: Obey God and trust Him always.
2 Samuel – King David’s Reign David became king of Israel. He united the nation and made Jerusalem the capital. David loved God but also made serious mistakes. God forgave David when he repented. God promised that one day a forever King (Jesus) would come from David’s family line. Big lesson: God forgives people who truly turn back to Him.
1 Kings – Wise Kings and Divided Kingdoms Solomon, David’s son, became king and asked God for wisdom. Solomon built God’s temple in Jerusalem. Later Solomon turned away from God. After Solomon died, Israel split into two kingdoms: Israel (north) Judah (south) Most kings did evil things. God sent prophets like Elijah to call people back to Him. Big lesson: Wisdom means following God.
2 Kings – Prophets, Miracles, and Exile Prophets like Elijah and Elisha showed God’s power through miracles. Many kings still refused to obey God. God warned His people many times. Israel was conquered because they kept worshiping idols. Later Judah was conquered too, and many people were taken away to Babylon. Even in hard times, God stayed faithful to His promises. Big lesson: God is patient, but He wants His people to obey Him.
